Public Zine Library Launch + Zine Making Workshop
with Cassidy Alejandria

June 24, 2023, 10am–5pm
Skeleton Park Art Festival
Free + Open to all

Union Gallery is excited to launch our new zine library, and will be coming to the Skeleton Park Arts Festival for its first grant debut! To celebrate the launch, UG Research Fellow Cassidy Alejandria will be leading drop-in zine making all day. We’ll be using the simple 8-page x-book format and folks will be invited to spend some time creating their very own zine, which they can choose to have scanned into the UG zine library for future sharing.

Recreation and Reconnection is the first curatorial call for the zine library and will encourage artists to think about why they have become disconnected to their outdoor surroundings. Exploring these specific, visceral memories exemplifies and encourages us to reconnect to our inner child in outdoor spaces. In a time where there is such intense pressure to put childish things away and “grow up,” this project reinstates the importance of caring for our shared spaces.

If you’re interested in submitting a zine to Recreation & Reconnection, visit the open call for more details on submitting.
