STUDENT AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

The Student Ambassador Program (SAP) serves in an advisory capacity by providing feedback and making recommendations on matters that impact the experience of Queen’s University students at the graduate and undergraduate level, across all faculties. The goal of SAP is to ensure that gallery policies, programs, and services provided are reflective of students’ diverse perspectives, needs, and interests. SAP also acts as a resource and focus group. Students provide feedback on pitched programs and also increase engagement with fellow students by sharing information about the gallery’s programs, opportunities, and exhibitions throughout the fall and winter semesters.

TIME COMMITMENT

Student Ambassadors are expected to attend monthly meetings and provide quarterly reports to the Board, or as needed. This volunteer program has a 4 hr/month commitment, with the option to be more involved with other volunteer opportunities such as pop-up booths and extra hands at events.

SAP is led by a Chair or Co-Chairs who lead the program’s activities, report on SAP’s progress, and recommend advisory actions to the Board. Chairs or Co-Chairs responsibilities include:

EQUITY STATEMENT

Union Gallery is committed to equity, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our programming and operations. UG welcomes applications from qualified individuals of all sexualities, races, gender identities, socioeconomic statuses, and (dis)abilities. We strongly encourage applications from equity-seeking communities. UG recognizes that BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour), QPOC (Queer People of Colour) and 2SLGBTQIA+ (Two-Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, +) are disproportionately underrepresented within institutional art spaces. Due to ongoing systemic barriers, UG prioritizes applicants who self-identify as BIPOC, QPOC, 2SLGBTQIA+. If you would like to, please indicate if you self-identify as a member of any equity-seeking groups in your application.
