This exhibition is a collaboration between twelve students in Art and Activism. It is loosely inspired by the radical pedagogy of Maurice Stein and Larry Miller’s Blueprint for a Counter Education (1970). Instead of a blueprint, we present you with a map – made from posters and strings – through the intellectual, conceptual, and affective terrain that we traversed this semester.
The posters in the exhibition map key themes through the words of some of the authors we read together: love, lived experience, language, land, and world-building. Each theme connects to a network of ideas that emerged from these texts. By mapping some of our conversations, questions, and ideas, we encourage you to explore your own pathways through the exhibition. What routes will you take through this map? Where might they lead you?
Creating Desire Lines: Pathways to a Counter Education is funded by the Faculty of Arts and Science Experiential Learning Activity Fund.
