Invitation for 7 Courses

7 Courses is a group show in seven parts that will roll out over the spring and summer in the project room of the Union Gallery. It is a sampling of the work produced by seven emerging artists who participated in the Union Gallery’s Art Shift mentorship program over the last year. Participating artists are Rick Lapointe (May 3 –14), Michael Davidge (May 18- 28), Celia Piper (June 1 – 14), JoAnn Ralph (June 16 – 29), Arlene Cassidy (July 1 – 5), Melinda Richka (July 16 – 28) Michèle LaRose (July 30 - August 12).

On May 18th 2011, 7pm Michael Davidge will be presenting The square root of Vexations to the power of 3, in collaboration with members of the experimental music ensemble, SouB?, This performance and sound installation is based on Erik Satie’s infamous composition, Vexations. Davidge will be presenting an arrangement of Vexations for a trio of musicians that will run the length of the square root of 840 repetitions.
