Vacillation Viewer, mixed media installation, 2010
Old technologies and new come together in this participatory sculpture that is modeled on coin-operated viewers that still dot the shorelines of our waterways and hillsides. The hand-cranked machine, constructed of found materials and digitally produced zoetrope animation bring together photographs of Kingston’s waterfront that morph into abstraction in an exploration of humanity’s relationship with nature and the environment.
