The Union Gallery off site project for 2009 titled Food Fight II asked students artists to investigate ideas around food production, consumption and distribution. Toronto artist Luis Jacob worked with student artists Lisa Figge and Patricia Mader to help develop their projects.

Ecological Citizenship, asked community participants to carry out a set of activities in order to consider what their personal ecological citizenship profile might look like. Focusing on coffee consumption, Figge’s piece addresses the concerns, both local and global, that surround the complexities of the coffee ritual and its implications in terms of the environment.

Growing Hungry examines the relationship between production and consumption of food. Mader explored these ideas by creating a prototype for a sound and sculptural installation in a community garden in downtown Kingston.
