This exhibition consists of videos from the Queens second year BFA ’10 Time Based Media module students. For many students in the class, this fall was their first encounter with creating video art. Second year is the first year of the BFA program in which a Time Based Media module is offered. As part of this module a collaborative video project is assigned, and the videos that are here exhibited, are directed by the parameters of this project. Conceptually, each group began by researching a local event, concern or issue. The aesthetic, conceptual and formal structures developed from there, using the local event research as a springboard. All the videos display a narrative structure, although, this term is to be interpreted in a loose, non-classical way. The videos are fictional, personal or factual in nature, and are sometimes a combination of all three.
