Reception: April 12, 6-8p

Sean L.T. Cartwright, Childhood's End, video stills, 2008
Featuring an eclectic mix of eccentric, obscure, meaningless, and evocative films from students in FILM 385: Experimental Theory and Practice. An exhibition designed to explore cognitive reasoning, and deconstruct linear cinematic productions by employing experimental techniques and practices. The single channel video installations depict a range of filmic stylings from art as means of therapeutic discourse, to examining social injustices, to repetitive poetic narratives, to deconstructing cultural practices such as the daily implementation of make-up and the pressures of beauty accepted within our society. This exhibition is intended to expose viewers to perceptions un-perceived by many and act as the foundation for dialogue and inquiry into the subjects explored in each short film.
