The world we live in requires us to exercise the faculties of perception, recognition and interpretation to an indispensable degree. Consequently there is often a tendency to experience art in the same way. I attempt to remove the need for recognition and interpretation of the phenomena depicted in my photographs. I believe that nature is infinitely more creative than we are, and that it is possible to capture nature’s innovative artistic expressions if we use our eyes more than our brain. My pictures are always in natural form, and I do not use photo- editing software to create artificial effects. My current artistic endeavors include discovering new visual forms, revisiting themes and forms previously deemed mundane or uninteresting with a new pair of eyes, and recognizing finer details in phenomena under examination.

Ajit Bhand is a doctoral candidate in Mathematics at Queen's University. He was born and brought up in India, in a family of academics and artists, and hopes to keep the family traditions alive.
